“The tools we use to process information and the context of our understandings propel and challenge the direction of my work. I explore how knowledge is transferred through visual cues and privileged information. With my art I strive to claim presence, to revisit truths, and to break constructed designations of place. By populating my art with coded and identifiable references I am trying to provoke dialogue.”
About the piece.
This intervention occurred on the shores of Xacuabš / Lake Washington near Genesee Park on Wednesday the 12th of this month. I am wearing a patadyong/malong sewn by my mother. The “shadow mask” is new. It came to me in a waking dream while in Batuan, Bali earlier this year. Ken Matsudaira assisted.
